#24128 3.31% WT-Direct Savings -- Wilmington Trust

Posted by TomMarc on 08 August 2008 - 05:06 PM in Savings and Money Market Rates

WTdirect Savings account from Wilmington Trust has kind of tricky terms. As I understand it:

For the first 60 days after account opening, you can earn 3.31% APY on any balance more than $1.

BUT

Beginning 60 days after account opening, only balances more that $10k will earn 3.31%. Balances less than $10k will earn only .50% APY.

-No fees
-No minimum deposit to open
-No checking account required

QUOTE
-Our competitive online savings rate is consistently among the top 5% of U.S. banks.* Balances of $10,000 or more earn our highest rate, unlike some banks that lower their rates when your balance gets too high.
-We don't require a large immediate deposit. We'll give you two months to try us out and build your balance – all the while earning our highest rate.

#24082 Using your assets

Posted by TomMarc on 05 August 2008 - 03:30 AM in General

Well my wife stayed home with the kids till they both started school then she went back to work. She didn't have any credit cuz most of our stuff was in my name for years, but she wanted a CC and we ended up taking a chunk from our savings and put it in a BoA account in her name, then they approved her for a card. I can't remember the limit she started with it wasn't too much, maybe 2k. Not sure if they do that alot or if they still do that, it was quite a while ago now.

#24081 7.01% MidWest America Fed CU - Reward Checking

MidWest America Federal Credit Union is offering 7.01% APY on their Reward Checking account for balances up to $25,000.

Requirements:
- 10 debit card transactions
- One ACH debit or credit transaction
- Sign up for E-statements

Benefits
- Free bill pay
- ATM fee refund (up to $25/month)

Credit Union membership requires $5 Share deposit in savings account.

It's intended to be only a LOCAL promotion (Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky), BUT through a loophole people nationwide have been able to join. They have an extensive Field of Membership List which includes Allen County SPCA members. It appears anyone can join for only $25 and doing so enables you to qualify for this account.

They've been offering this account since February 08 aparently.

Application forms are available online, you need a notarized signature on your app and copies of both your driver's license and SS card.

#24076 I guess you'd call this an ATM joke.........

Posted by TomMarc on 04 August 2008 - 07:09 PM in General

LOL funny cuz it's true I guess

For my wife's sake tho, I wanna point out the difference between a GIRL and a WOMAN.

How a Woman Withdraws Cash from an ATM
1. Park the car
2. Check wallet for card (making sure teenager didn't "borrow" it again)
3. Check purse for pepper spray
4. Go to ATM
5. Insert card
6. Enter PIN (while covering keypad with one hand)
7. Take money
8. Remove card
9. Return to car
10. Count money for accuracy
11. Write withdrawal in checkbook (including ATM fees)
12. Drive home (stopping to buy beer for husband)
13. "Loan" cash to teenager.

#24072 Visa - Sears discount

Posted by TomMarc on 03 August 2008 - 07:28 PM in General discussion

My wife discovered this discount opportunity, she's good about things like this and I'm blessed to have her! Apparently some brands that my kids like were excluded, and she couldn't use it on that PS3 my son is begging for, or for the new AC we want, but she was able to get some back-to-school clothes for the kids taking advantage of this offer.

You should be able to use this link. Or the code: VISA605

If that doesn't work for some reason, you can find the deal at lifetakesvisa.com

Some of the exclusions:

- items labeled "great price"
- clearance or close-out items
- outlet store purchases
- catalogue or phone orders
- electronics
- Sears Auctions on ebay
- Land's End merchandise and Levi's jeans
- iPod
- Adidas
- video games
- most home appliances and parts
- gift cards (unfortunately!)

Only redeemable in the US and good until Oct. 15th
