#2879 Race-oriented bank? Does it make sense?

Posted by ez2nve on 06 April 2005 - 03:29 PM in General

QUOTE(scottjm @ Apr 6 2005, 07:08 AM)
Does this mean I can open up Bankwhitey, My slogan could be "We offer better rates because of less defaults" I just don't get why minorities can do things like Black only beauty pageants and Black award shows. Discrimination is wrong either way

Scottjm....."........better rates because of less defaults"? This comment was uncalled for.

In any case, if one can read the entry, it states that they're TARGETING african americans NOTdenying other races an account (which WOULD BE discrimination). It also stated that those "TARGETED" AA's are required to make $50k per yr, yet no one's focus is on that. Most banks do some sort of profiling how is this one any different? Salem Five Cents Bank only opens accounts for those with a certain credit score, as do other banks. Some banks require people to work for a certain business to obtain an account. Other banks require a person to stay in a certain state to have an account; however, this one overshadows the rest somehow? I dont see it.

#2874 Banks classifying ACH and Direct Deposits...

Posted by ez2nve on 06 April 2005 - 02:25 PM in Bank lists by feature

[COLOR=blue] Funds from a PAYPAL account cannot be verified in a NETBANK account, for some reason PAYPAL says they dont support banks such as NETBANK because of their verification process. I was, however, able to deposit funds (via ACH transfer) into my NETBANK account thru my MEADOWS CU acct.

HSBC is also offering $25 to open the online savings acct, but a promtional code is required. I learned of this while attempting to open the online savings acct. (while reading the account terms & charges disclosure) Consequently, i'm holding off on opening the account until i can get this information. This offer expires 11:59:59 PM 5-2-2005.
