Thanks Vivyip for letting me know about the bonus! The catch is that you get really bad rate for a 5 year CD if you want to get a car with it.

Terms:

Annual Percentage Yields (APYs) accurate as of 11/15/05. Rates subject to change without notice. The interest rate will remain fixed until maturity. The minimum balance to open the account and earn the 2.00% APY for the 5 Year CD is $125,000 for the Pontiac G6 and $300,000 for the Cadillac SRX. The required minimum deposit must be maintained for the full term of the CD. Failure to do so will result in the full value of the car and any upfront interest payment being deducted from your account balance. A penalty may be imposed for withdrawals before maturity. Fees could reduce earnings. Does not include cost of registration. The value of the automobile and any upfront interest you receive will be considered as interest on your account for income tax purposes in the first year the account is opened. A 1099-INT statement for the value of the automobile (including tax and delivery costs) will be issued. Automobiles will generally be available for pick-up at the dealership selected by New York Community Bank depending upon availability. Substitutions may apply based on dealer stock. The automobile offer is available exclusively for qualifying new accounts. Photos of automobiles may not be exact model or color. One automobile per new account. Retirement accounts are not eligible. This offer may be withdrawn at any time, without notice.

interesting concept, but it's not worth it.

You can easily find a CD that would pay you 5%.
so you are loosing 3% of interest on $125000 for 5 years.
Which amounts to 3750*5=18750
plus you'll be taxed on the value of the car...
You are better of just putting $ in the decent CD and then buyin a car of your choice

aren't you actually losing more than that?
you aren't "compounding" the interest - it may not be much, but i think if compounded, it would be more then the "present value" amount.
