first make sure you have no balance due on the card, before using the checks. most card companies apply your payments to the lower interest balances first, then the higher ones next.
one catch is that the credit card company who gave you the checks, will require you to pay at least the minimum payment on the amount that you borrow from them every month. the min is usually 2-3% of the balance due. so if you wrote your checks for $2000, the min on the first bill will be $40-$60. the min payment will go down each bill because you are paying the balance down, but not by much.
another thing is to make sure not to use the card once you write your checks. most card companies apply your payments to the lower interest balances first, then the higher ones next. so if you use your card to purchase something, that balance will sit on the card until you finish paying off the lower interest balance first.

#18167 4.23% APY with $50K Saving
Posted by stubrett on 07 November 2005 - 03:37 PM in Online banks
BANKCD charges $10 to release bank contact info.
The bank which offers 4.5% APY requires 6-month minimum period but cannot guarantee the 4.5% in the 6 months. It is not good.
4.23%APY is the 2nd high APY now.
Why is it not good? Have you had experience with this bank? Do they lower the rate before the 6 months are up?
Where is this 4.23%APY account? I don't see it in the list of rates. Can you put a link to it.
thanks

Their checking account is now at 3.75% APY with direct deposit
Have you had direct experience with this bank? Is the online sign-up easy, and the customer service afterwards good?
Sorry I didn't responded sooner, but I was waiting until my withdrawl show up in the mail and it finally did.
The sign up over the internet part was easy, and your initial deposit can be an e-check or a check you mail in to them. I opted for the e-check method and opened the account with $5,500. I withdrew some of the money to see how long it would take to get my money. I mailed my request to them on Aug. 10 a Wednesday. I looked at my account to see when the withdrawl had taken place, and they withdrew the money on Aug. 12 a Friday. Then I had to leave it up to the postal service, and I finally received my check today Aug. 19 a Friday. So it looks like they are legit so far. You just have to wait a little while to get your money, so plan ahead.

They actually responded pretty quick, so I am not sure why you did not get a response. I used the form ,under the contact us link on the web sites menu bar, to contact them.
Try to email them again with your question.

So it pretty much sounds like if the 4.25% APR is true, you have to visit one of their branches in Arkansas of Tennessee to even open an account.
I won't be visiting there soon or ever, so the rate is great but until they get on the internet I will not be able to take advantage of this.
