Beware Bank of America clients, the people at that bank rip you off!! My husband opened an account with them less than a year ago and soon after we began having problems. One day we woke up checked our balance online and noticed that we were in the negative, my husband called them up and they told him that they had taken the money and were issuing us a credit card for our kids. (Our kids are no older than 7.) he demanded the money be put back and after two weeks it was. They show an available balance on your account on the web but when you withdraw the money they put you in the negative. how can that be? if the money was shown as available and we do not write checks!!! I went into the bank to withdraw money just to prove a point and they let me. All I had to do was say I was his wife, I am not even on the account!!! I was able to take out 1000 with just the account number! BUT WE FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET BACK AT THEM!!!!!!
If you have been ripped off by them this is what you do....
Put money in the account, go to the store and buy things making sure there is at least 100 left over then set up a paypal account, transfer 500 to the paypal from the bank account and it goes through!!!! We left them in the negative and never went back to them. We made sure we got every sent back they ever took!!!!

bank of america is pure evil. i opened an account to get the bonus but they have nailed me with fees in excess of the bonus.

I would however caution you about leaving bank of america in the red. they will probably screw with your credit report.

Banks never lose. As a matter of fact business' never lose. The one's that lose are customers like us. Why? Because banks and vendors just have to report you to either the credit bearue or to checkfree. If Bank of America reports you to checkfree, you won't be able to open an account at most banks out there. A few year ago I closed an account and there was a check outstanding that I had forgotten about. They reported me to checkfree and I wasn't able to open an accoiunt for 3 years. They actually leave it on your record for 5 or 7 years. The bank went out of business so I disputed it and won.

Last week BofA took monthly service charges out of two of my accounts even though they weren't suppose to since I transferred money into them and that meets the exceptions according to the account agreement so I called and got the charges reversed. Then I got BofA to reverse a charge I got for using a foreign ATM but that was my fault but it was just a mistake and that was nice of them to do that. I guess if you keep calling you can get results but it's time consuming.

I have to agree. Bank of America is not the place to put your money. I've actually been with Bank of America or one of its predecessors for over 20 years and have had very few problems until recently. I received a lower interest rate bank card and was thrilled that the payments went down substantially. Well, it was only for one month because the very next month my payment doubled from the original! I have spent time on the phone, email, etc trying to get this resolved. Each time I'm told, I'll check with my supervisor and call you back. At the beginning of the week I received an email from the bank indicated that the issue had been resolved. Imagine my surprise when I received a letter to the contrary in my mail today. I called the bank and basically they said....tough luck! you must pay the double amount and guess what ----we are going to raise it again....talk about rubbing salt in the wounds.

Stay away from Bank of America is all I can say!
