Is the Memo field in your FirstIB bill payments important for you? One of the options that FirstIB used to have with Metavante and does not have with CheckFree is the Memo field on its Bill Payment interface. The Memo field allowed customers to enter additional information for check bill payments. The Memo filed could be used by a payee for payment identification. That was particularly useful when a payee required more information than just an account number (for example, some COBRA payments require account number, group ID and social security number). Absence of the Memo field prevents FirstIB customers from using FirstIB Bill Payment in such cases and may force some of them to choose another bank.
