I can not recommend Allstate bank to high-income customers because APY of its Money Market and Interest Checking account is lower than APY you can get in other online banks
I can not recommend Allstate bank to low-income customers either because it charges a $5.95 fee for online bill payment. Many online banks offer bill pay for free (State Farm Bank, Farm Bureau Bank, Ascencia Bank, etc). The cheapest regular checking account at Allstate bank requires $500 minimum average daily balance to avoid $7 fee. You do get ATM rebates. But ATM rebates are not enough to make this account competitive. The interest checking account of First Internet Bank of Indiana with the same minimum balance requirement gives you also free bill payment, ACH-in transfers, e-bills, email alerts, and ATM rebates. Conclusion: there are online banks around that have much cheaper checking products than checking accounts at Allstate Bank.
Allstate needs to work harder to make its bank accounts more competitive.
