In Topic: $50 bonus - Everbank : for closing a 2.51% checking account; Exp. - unknown

I also received the $50 upon closing the account.

The reason that I closed my account PROMPTLY upon the expiration of the
teaser rate might be of interest to you.

Prior to the expiration of the teaser rate, I called and asked a customer
service rep about the possibility of an extension... or if not, when, exactly
my teaser rate would expire.

His attitude was quite arrogant. I got the feeling that he (and possibly
one or more of his supervisors or other management personell) was
looking down on me as simply one of those suckers who was hooked
on the teaser rate.

In other words, he appeared to be keenly aware of the difference
(especially in customer service) between an e-Bank simply offering
a higher rate and a Brick and Mortar Bank such as Presidential Bank
which offers the same thing PLUS excellent customer service.

cussing.gif CORRECTION: NO $100 BONUS. Actual bonus is $50.

$50 Bonus was credited to my account on 4/13/06.

Upon inquiring regarding the future receipt of the 2d $50,

was informed by customer service that this would not

be happening. That the total bonus is the $50 which

I received on 4/13.

for this offer. To bring 2 pieces of ID and Social Security Card and a copy of
the offer that you received in the mail, or in this case from the newspaper
via your Internet site. Their 50 or so branch offices appear to be all located
in Southern California.

In Topic: $250 and other bonuses - Netbank : CD, checking and money market accou...

09 August 2005 - 10:27 PM

[SIZE=7][COLOR=purple]Opened several bank accounts in response to bank offers.
Am closing this one with NetBank following the completion
of the six month trial period. The high interest rate on the
Money Market Account does remain tempting.

On the other hand, have found that the added return
does not at all compensate for the added hastle.

The problem is that NetBank is exactly what it's name says...
a net-bank.

While the customer service agents tend to do their best,
they do not seem to be supported at higher levels.
I found that such supervisors tend to be 'shadowy'
at best. Instead of making a return phone call
to clarify the situation, a brief, cookie cutter type
e-mail was used instead. Attempts at further
clarification were simply a waste of time.

In other words, if things go well, this is probably as good a
'bank' as any other.

But if problems occur, you may quickly discover that
being a NetBanker is like trying to bank from Mars...
maybe relying on smoke signals would be better.
