In Topic: Offers only: ING direct: $25/$10

First off, I'd like to say that those "quick referral" links aren't going to work. What those users did was that they put down fake names and email addresses and had ING email referals to themselves. They then copied the link from their email message onto the thread, but the referral program does not work that way. You only get the $25 opening bonus if the referal link you click matches the email address you use to sign up for a new account. Since your email address does not match those of links listed previously, you won't get the $25

I'm willing to give $2 of my own personal gift money to users who want to be reffered by me (which means $27 for you when you open a new account). If you are interested, email me at [email protected]. (ING will automatically credit you $27 instead of the usual $25), but only if you are referred by me. The additional $2 is a personal gift from me that ING lets me add to the $25 bonus.

I reply to email very quickly, since I use Yahoo! Messenger and it notifies me immediately when I get email, so there shouldn't be any worries about me taking too long to reply.

Please remember to include first and last name and the email address that you intend to open an account with.

QUOTE(mehmeh @ Apr 12 2005, 07:57 AM)
hey

anyone out there have greenpoint checking?

ok they have two accounts i'm looking at right now.. free checking (w/ no direct deposit!) and direct deposit which is free if ur using, presumably any ACH vehicle, as i can now say from getting savvy w/ all this biggrin.gif

ok here's the stupid question:

.........do i need direct deposit in my checking account to use ING? (or these other internet banks)

i honestly dont know, haven't had anything besides savings before.  can i get minimum, no-frills, non-direct checking and link it up?--or must it be direct?  what's the deal?  somebody, if u could post and help me out, i'd appreciate it so much.

if anybody has greenpoint bank (it's in NY) and has avoided the 6 dollar monthly direct charge w/ ING transactions, whewww, that would be a load off my mind

i also dont want them to have "payable thru" written on their checks cus i know then it wont work .. they're owned by northfork so hopefully that wont muck up the process...

i dont wanna have to switch my "tangible," brick-and-mortar bank for nothing!

help...............

ING Direct does NOT require you to link your checking account through Direct Deposits. However, ING does require that you fund their account electronically when open a new account, and that requires an ACH transfer.

Just know that as far as ING Direct is concerned that there are no fees involved and that you are not asked nor required to fund your Savings account continuously with Direct Deposit.

Hope that answers your question.
