#22263 $75 bonus - Chase : open a checking account ONLINE and set-up a direct d...

Posted by Bankgeek on 10 August 2007 - 11:46 PM in Expired bank bonuses

I too received a letter from Chase saying that it couldn't open my account because it didn't receive all of my information during the on line application process. But I double checked my application before clicking submit so I know they received it. But Chase invited me to re-apply. I got a telephone number to call, 1-877-691-8086, Chase sent that too me in a letter, but have not yet called the number. I guess I will call it on Monday just to see what they say. But probably that will turn out of be a waste of time.

#22149 Direct Deposit

How can I create direct deposit, so that I can take advantage of more offers that require direct deposit?

Does setting up a business account work?

Set up a paypal premier account, it's free. Sell some items on ebay and have the customers pay using your premier account. The items could be old books or whatever for a couple of dollars. Just get them sold. Then use the account for direct deposit. Works.

Ok I have an idea. I am not sure if it will work, so I would like to get your input. Right now google is offering free credit card processing until 2008.
I read through the terms of service and just got really confused. Do you think that it might be possible to process your own cash back DEBIT cards through google checlout?

For example ing is offering 1% cash back on all debit card transactions between 6-1 and 8-1 up to 500 dollars. So you would have to spend 50,000 dollars to take full advantage of the offer. So you pay yourself 1000 dollars a day and keep repaying yourself the same 1000 dollars for the next 60 days. and you will have earned 500 dollars.

Any thoughts on the process.

Your wife or some other trusted person sets up an online store that accepts debit & credit cards and the transactions are processed through Google. You then go to the web site and buy $1,000.00 per day. The money is then recycled, i. e. given back to you. Seems to me it should work. But how much would it cost to set up an online store? Maybe not that much.

I thought about that, but from what i read on fatwallet the other person would have to pay taxes on the 50,000 dollars just like it is income.

Wifey buys the merchandise from you and sells it to you for cost. No net. She owes nothing. Seems like it would work.

don't you think that is a little transparent? I am sure the irs would know what you are doing.

now I wish i had majored in bussiness/economics instead of history. If only i had found ibankdesign 5 years ago. suppose i could still give accounting a try but i don't want to be in a class with 20 year olds when i am 27. siiiiii

Since you're not doing anything wrong in the first place it wouldn't matter if they knew about it or not. Just as long as the forms are filled out properly and filed it's legal.

#21624 $50 Bonus - HSBC : Premium Money Market Plus; Exp. - 11/30/07

Posted by Bankgeek on 29 April 2007 - 12:05 AM in Expired bank bonuses

QUOTE(whistler @ Apr 28 2007, 05:49 PM) View Post

Not at all worth doing. It's not because it's "only"50 bucks, it's that you need 3k to do it. With such low interest rates you're losing money by putting that 3k into HSBC instead of in emigrant direct's savings accounts or even citibank's esavings account which offer much higher rates. These deals are great when the deposit is like 100 bucks or so because you usually get a great return on your deposit. I'm pretty sure HSBC requires you to have a daily minimum balance, so you can't immediately pull it out, if this isn't true it prolly is worth doing.

On the HSBC website it says no monthly maintenance fee and no minimum balance. No mention about a hold. Maybe they put a 10 day hold on it? Plus the time it takes to get it there and back. It could be 18 business days. That might be 24 calender days. You lose about $10 if you have it in an account that pays 5%. You make $40 but you also get an inquiry at Chexsystems. It's better to use it on some other deal. Most likely there has to be a better deal some place.

Open your Premium Money Market Plus Savings account today.

To open your account, apply online, call 1-866-427-2065, or visit any HSBC branch. But hurry, this offer expires on May 31, 2007!

* To qualify for the cash bonus, customers must open a new Premium Money Market Plus Savings Account with an initial deposit of $3,000 of new money. New money means funds not previously held by any member of the HSBC Group. If you qualify, $50 will be deposited into your savings account 6 to 8 weeks after account opening. HSBC reserves the right to charge an amount equal to the bonus unless the new deposit account remains open and active for at least 180 days. The Annual Percentage Yield (APY) and balances which are accurate as of April 1, 2007 on Premium Money Market Plus Savings Accounts are 0.60% APY on balances of $1.00 or more but less than $15,000; 2.65% APY on balances of $15,000 or more but less than $50,000; 2.90% APY on balances of $50,000 or more but less than $75,000; 3.15% APY on balances of $75,000 or more. APY is variable and subject to change. Fees may reduce earnings on the account. Cash bonus is considered interest income and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT. Limited to one (1) cash bonus per household. Offer expires May 31, 2007 and cannot be combined with any offers.

Interest rates seems way too low. But you could open the account, put in $3,000 than pull the money out leaving the account open. Since there's no minimum balance you still get the $50 bonus. Seems like a lot of work for just $50.

Allright, since no one answered my question, I volunteer to be the guinea pig. I opened an account and will will make an ACH transfer to it next month.I'll be back in about 60 days to report what happened.

[quote name='ichaelm' post='21061' date='Feb 14 2007, 11:27 PM']
This checking account has a $4 monthly fee without direct deposit. Has anyone opened a Direct Plus account with LaSalle using a Paypal ACH transfer in lieu of direct deposit? Apple, HTH, HSBC, and eTrade all offer free push/pull transfers. Would a regularly-scheduled transfer from another bank work?

Set up a paypal premier account, its free. Than use it to transfer money into your account. It will work. Or you could just pay some utility bills.

Does anybody see how a bank can use these codes to distinguish a PalPal ACH transfer from a direct deposit of somebody's salary? I have failed to figure this is out... so my guess is that it is not possible.

Why is this important? ... because many bank deals require a direct deposit.

I've done dozens of bank bonus deals and used paypal for every one of them and never had a problem. My guess is the banks just don't care. They want your money. Just one little thing, always send the same amount every month for whatever length is required ususally six months and make sure that's it's over the bank's minimum whatever that is.

#19976 balance transfer help

Posted by Bankgeek on 03 September 2006 - 06:13 PM in General discussion

Bonehead,
Run, don't walk, from this deal. About two years ago I tried to open a checking account at a local WAMU branch. I have excellent credit and no problems with my Chexsystems report. The next thing I know I'm told by the WAMU customer service rep that my application has been rejected. I was shocked and asked why. She said I had too many inquiries on my chexsystem report! So about six weeks later when I got my report it said that four inquiries had been put on it in one day, everyone from WAMU! How come? I applied for one account, not four! I then spent the next four months trying to straighten out my Chexsystems report. That happened because Chexsystems threw my original paperwork away! So I had to do it again.
Anyway, when I asked WAMU to conpensate me for my expenses like certified letters and postage and all the other problems they refused. WAMU was clearly at fault. This bank stinks and you shouldn't have anything to do with it. You are just asking for trouble.
