7% - 7 Month CD from MemberSource CU in Houston

31 October 2006 - 01:54 AM

Calling all cousins!!!! happy.gif

These great CD's are available to anyone that lives in Houston in certain zip codes or lives anywhere and is related to one of the members of the credit union (like me) by blood or marriage. You may purchase 1 CD for a maximum of $7000, and purchase another one for each person that purchases one and uses you as a referral.

Credit Unions are trying to open up their memberships and many are looking for innovative ways to get new members.

If you send me a message, I will send you what you need to use me as the referral (dear cousins) so you may join the Credit Union (requires a separate check for $5 to join, goes into a savings account), and I can buy a few more of these before they are gone.

This deal expires 11.30.06... so hurry up.... interest will be paid at end of term, so no 1099 for this year sneaky.gif

6% 13 Month CD at WAMU with BUMP?

24 August 2006 - 11:32 PM

Called WAMU (Washington Mutual Bank) today here in Houston, asked them about rumor about 6% CD. Rep said yes 6% for 13 months, last day to purchase August 31, 2006. happy.gif

Check must come from a different bank. Asked if I transferred funds from ING to my WAMU checking would that be OK... nope! Must be check from another bank to open 6% CD. Anyway she goes on to say that the 6% rate has a bump feature and if rates increase, they will bump up the rate too.. not sure what the trigger is though. cussing.gif

Also asked if the CD was callable, and she said no. All is good. happy.gif

Minimum $1000 with $100,000 max to be insured FDIC unless you have a joint account then more?

Figure % rates will probably go up, but 6% now is better than 5%ish around in the MM's.
