Called WAMU (Washington Mutual Bank) today here in Houston, asked them about rumor about 6% CD. Rep said yes 6% for 13 months, last day to purchase August 31, 2006.

Check must come from a different bank. Asked if I transferred funds from ING to my WAMU checking would that be OK... nope! Must be check from another bank to open 6% CD. Anyway she goes on to say that the 6% rate has a bump feature and if rates increase, they will bump up the rate too.. not sure what the trigger is though.

Also asked if the CD was callable, and she said no. All is good.

Minimum $1000 with $100,000 max to be insured FDIC unless you have a joint account then more?

Figure % rates will probably go up, but 6% now is better than 5%ish around in the MM's.

You have to sign-up for a two-year T-Mobile plan if you want Free RAZR or Blackberry. I did not have time to look into detials of other offers.

You may also want to make sure that they offer accounts/bonuses to non-local customers if you do not live in Umpqua Bank service areas.

Has anyone received the Citi Dividend Platinum "Personalize your account" mailer? They offer a Reduced APR, more Cash Back, or other special benefits if you call 1 866 754 6875.

I typically use this card for the 5% cash back on Gas & groceries (been a card member since 2002). When I called, they offered me a bonus 5% cb on all purchases for the next 3 months! That makes a total of 10% cb on Gas & groceries, and6% on everything else. I had to ask her 3 times to make sure she knew what she was saying. Getting 6% back on next semester’s tuition will be sweet!

After the promotional period expires (3 months) I will receive a bonus 1% indefinitely (making 6%cb on Gas & groceries, 2% cb on everything else).

Of course, all of this is subject to the $300 a year cap on earnings.

Anyone who has this card should call the number above and demand the increased CB!

I was thinkig long time about it. With tiny interest rates few years ago it would not be worth bothering, but now it is a different story 
Though cash advance will not work probably (I never saw it free, 0% APR). But how to use a BT option if I do not carry any balances on my cards (pay them in full)? Any ideas how to make it work?
